The best-known ones are Christoph Willibald Gluck's ''La rencontre imprévue'', André Ernest Modeste Grétry's ''Zémire et Azor'', Pierre-Alexandre Monsigny's ''Le déserteur'' and François-André Danican Philidor's ''Tom Jones''.
